Improved tools for BFA's Intranet

Created on Monday, 30 November 2015 15:05

Bowman, Foster & Associates has improved on our local intranet site to include multiple new tools for staff to better share information, track projects, and provide our clients with improved communication and interaction.

Our Joomla! based CRM (Customer Relationship Management) application allows administrative and marketing staff to better manage and analyze customer interactions and data to improve client and business relationships.  It also improves customer satisfaction and retention by automating performance questionnaires and surveys.

Our web-based Wiki allows collaborative modification of important content directly from your web browser. It allows everyone in the company to edit and modify content as they see fit without the need/understanding of webpage development and coding. It will provide a location for the company to share and provide knowledge, notes, and other important information with everyone in the business.

(Under Development) New Project Management and Gantt Chart software will better help our project managers and staff track the progress and milestones of every project.  This will add an extra level of timeliness and built in quality control to every project that BFA touches.

Bowman, Foster & Associates is pleased to announce that Rick O'Berry, CPD has recently become a Certified Green Plumbing Designer (GPD).  The Green Plumbing Design (GPD) certificate program, sponsored by the American Society of Plumbing Engineers and the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, is for engineers and designers with advanced skills in sustainable plumbing system design and consulting. The GPD designation signifies professionals who are dedicated to ensuring the efficient use of our precious water resources via water-conserving plumbing system designs for commercial and residential applications.  Rick O'Berry will be celebrating an impressive 28 years of mechanical designer experience in March of 2016.

Bowman, Foster & Associates is very excited to welcome back Blair Davis, EIT, LEED BD+C, GGP with open arms. Her 13 years in the electrical field have included employment in an electrical construction contracting company and subsequently acquiring her degree in electrical engineering as she evolved into the design side. Having served on both sides of the construction document implementation and now preparation gives her a unique insight into the design process. She has been exposed to both the renovation and new construction of a wide variety of building and system types. She has full responsibility for documentation of existing conditions for renovation work and creation of system schemes and design solutions for lighting, interior and exterior power distribution for low and medium voltage applications, grounding and lightning, emergency power generation, motor control and instrumentation, fire detection and alarm, and data communications distribution. Her dedication to efficiency, sustainability and resilience of design solution for the benefit of the environment is well served with her participation in the LEED and GGP programs. Additionally, her expertise with Autodesk CAD and REVIT enhance her design process and quality.

We realize the importance of environmental responsibility in our professional and our personal lives. Our vision of environmental responsibility and the practice of Sustainable Design are based upon a definition of sustainable design criteria. As sustainability encompasses a very large realm of responsibility, we limit its scope to sustainable design criteria within our field of expertise. Therefore, we have adopted the following criteria for sustainable design:

“Sustainable design criteria minimizes Environmental Impact throughout the conception, creation, utilization, and ultimate demolition of a structure or system while providing a healthy, comfortable and productive environment for people.”

Strict adherence to the values expressed in this definition allows us to provide quality engineering services to our clients based upon sound engineering principles, environmental responsibility, effective economic decision making, and educated compromises.
